Did You Hear?

Moving weekend was huge for Dave and I. Not only did we get to move (finally!) but Dave received a promotion at work!! Yep, we had and have lots to celebrate. You can read all about his promotion here:

Packing...Packing...

We finally got the Lincoln place all packed up last week. It was crazy.

All of this stuff...

minus the furniture fit in this trailer...

The furniture only took one more trip. We got everything moved to the new house in one day. It was fabulous and only happened because of the help we had. Thanks everyone!

Weekend Update

Moving is done. Unpacking is not.

We got all of our junk moved on Saturday. It only took 2 trips! We had lots of awesome help (thanks everyone!). Now it's on to unpacking. I've got lots of pictures to post but as we do not have internet at home yet, it may be a while.

We'll still be posting even though the move is complete. We have lots to finish at the house and hopefully lots of other things to share with you.

Apparently Dave does not know how to post things very well. There is a preview of the next few days since our computer will be out of commission for a little while.

Enjoy!!!

1 Day Left

We have the second final inspection today at 5 pm. Cutting it close but we should be good to go for the move tomorrow.

Sarah & Will have some good times with a green stacker.

Tucker winning at King of the Hill!!! Good job Tucker.

Since Dave lost to Tucker in King of the Hill he had to prove himself and conquer the doggie door instead.

2 Days Left

We have only two days until moving day. Tonight we finished a couple of items that the inspector failed us on. Thank you so much to Trent, Chad, Tim and Lindsay, Tim and Jane for coming out and helping us tonight to finish up. Here are some fun photos throughout the project.

Drinking on the Job!!!
Discus throw!!!

Put down your weapons!!! (I won by the way)

Frustrated

Frustrated...that was the mood tonight.

We have 4 items to fix before the inspector will give us the go-ahead. The items seem like petty little things but apparently are quite important. He'll be back Friday evening and we will have everything fixed.

Move-in is still scheduled for Saturday. See you then!

4 Days To Go

Only 4 days until move-in. We are packing, packing, packing.

Inspection

Postponed. Yep, postponed. Nope, not happy.

The inspector couldn't make it tonight even though we scheduled this with him a week ago. A week ago!

Don't people realize how rude it is to cancel on others!

We are not happy. It has been rescheduled for tomorrow. Things had better go well. Period.

5 Days To Go

Just 5 short days left.

Our final inspection is today at 5. This is it! If we pass, we can get our occupancy permit and move in!

Weekend Update

We are so excited to have this weekend over! Having it finished means inspection is right around the corner! And inspection means occupancy! It's about time.

As far as the weekend was concerned...

My dad installed doors.

A huge item for the past week was street signs. We couldn't get our occupancy permit without them but the bank (not Dave's) was dragging their feet on installing them. Why is a bank involved, you ask? Well, it's an incredibly long story. One I may document for you someday but basically our developer went belly-up and his bank took over ownership of the remaining lots. It's been a huge headache but it doesn't matter right now as the signs are up!

We also pulled up the cardboard on the kitchen counters. I thought about leaving it on for a while (sure keeps the tops nice) but my mom talked me out of it. I think she really wanted to see them.

We also tore up all of the cardboard on the floors and polished them up (also thought about living with cardboard - no chance those floors would get scuffed).

Gotta polish the bar.

The floors.....

We also touched up most of the paint, filled a few holes (don't ask) and cleaned up the rest of the house. Our plans for the week involve packing and more packing assuming of course that our inspection goes well. I'll let you know tomorrow evening!

6 Days To Go

Only 6 days until move-in. The excitement level is rapidly escalating here!

11 Days

11 days to go. Had a little snafu yesterday but we think it's cleared up. If all goes well, we should have street signs by the end of the week and be that much closer to move in.

12 Days

We have tentatively scheduled our move-in for Saturday, November 21st! I say tentatively because we still have to get part of the railing inside installed and get the inspector out for his final approval. The railing should be finished either this Friday or Saturday. The inspector should be out either Saturday or Monday.

So, because I choose to think optimistically, I am starting the official Pool move-in countdown.

12 days and counting!

We'd appreciate all the help you can give on move-in day. I know some of you are storing items for us and I'd like to point out that this would be a great day to rid your house of our stuff. Feel free to bring it by and move a few boxes! We'll be providing lunch, dinner, and beer. What more can you ask for?

Weekend Update

Only 13 days to go!!!! Yep, the countdown has begun. We have one project left to finish. After it's done, the inspector will come out and hopefully give us the a-ok!

While trying to contain our excitement about being within two weeks of move-in, we did wrap up a few projects this weekend.

Dave and my dad built a proper set of stairs from the garage to the house.

My mom enjoyed the nice weather and finished painting our front deck.

Doesn't it look great?

I also got to spend some quality time outdoors. Our neighbor stopped by on Friday and used a disc he had borrowed to tidy up our lawn. There were a few areas he couldn't get to so I tried to clean up the remaining weeds. It was a battle.

Dave also snuck outside and installed our...

mailbox!!!! Hopefully we'll be on the post office's radar shortly. We also got our 911 sign last week.
My dad was busy working away on our railings. Doesn't it look much safer?

And finally, our cabinet builder came down and installed some of the kitchen cabinet doors.

It's really all starting to feel official now. Please send some good thoughts our way as we are really hoping that everything is perfect for the inspector and we can get our occupancy permit with no problems.
