Solid Foods!!

We started Amelia on solid foods tonight.  Her first food was acorn squash!  She loved it.

Here she is nice and clean.

Digging in.

Getting all of it!

Wearing more than eating!

She absolutely loved it!  She was upset when it was all gone!

We also have some great vidoes!  I'll try and get them posted soon.

A Tale of Two Thanksgivings

We had a super busy Thanksgiving week.  We were in Grand Island both the weekend before and after Thanksgiving for all sorts of celebrations.

First we celebrated Gary and Debbie's 40th wedding anniversary.  We attended church with the family where Amelia promptly fell asleep.  She was also almost baptized.  It's a long story.

Great Grandma Doris was there to celebrate with us so, of course, we had to have a great grandchildren photo.

Amelia spent lots of time with the girls (William doesn't like babies so he stayed clear).

It was a little overwhelming at times for Amelia but she loved all of the attention!

I think Katlyn might have loved hanging out with her as well!

We also had a chance to hang out with Michael, Andrea and Allie. Michael made us an awesome meal of runzas (from scratch)!  Michael tried to convince Amelia that his beard was soft

Grandma got beat up.

And I got a chance to work on some career planning with Allie.

And what did Patton do this whole weekend?  Hung out by the space heater of course!

We had another weekend of Thanksgiving and birthday fun the following weekend.  Pictures to follow!

Mashed Potatoes

Amelia had her first bites of solid food at Thanksgiving.  We haven't officially started solid foods yet but she had to have a bite of mashed potatoes.  It was pretty funny to watch...

I don't think she was a fan!

Random Amelia

5 Months Old!

Where have the last 5 months gone?  Our little girl is becoming such a big girl!

Amelia is now reaching for everything!  Absolutely everything!  She discovered her feet this last month and always has to have her toes in her hands.  Her socks are constantly dangling off of her feet!

She hasn't quite mastered the fine art of sitting up.  She starts out strong and then plummets forward.  Instead of working on this, she's working on rolling over.  She can roll from her back to her stomach.  Once on her stomach, she gets totally confused.  It's a lot of fun to watch her process what happened!

Amelia is also turning into quite the star.  Dave got her involved in a commercial shoot for Scheel's.  She got to wait in line (with her daddy) to see Santa.  According to Dave, she was smiling the whole time.  Who knows, maybe we have a little actress on our hands!

I thought it would be fun to track Patton's growth and share it with you. Even though we knew it would happen, it's so hard to believe how fast he's growing!

July 16, 2010: 10.5 pounds

ETA September 10, 2011:  Seriously, how close can we get to 100 without going over!?  Patton is so close.

ETA June 18, 2011: Patton's growth has definitely slowed down. At this rate, we'll never break 100! His vet thinks all the playing he does burns most of the calories he's eating! Wish I had that problem.

ETA February 21, 2011: Not much growth in the last month, but lots of other changes going on with Patton. He's teething like crazy (yes, teething). His back molars are coming in and they are painful. His gums are swollen and he's chewing on everything. Poor guy! We also finally found a food that settles in his tummy (he's been on a prescription food for the last 6 months). So, he's happy eating and is actually getting filled up.

ETA January 17, 2011: Patton weighed in at 82 pounds today! Yikes! I don't want to jinx anything but I think we have finally found a food that actually settles well in his belly. I'm sure this will only increase his growth significantly! We'll have to get a height measurement one of these days. I do know that when sitting, his head is easily above the kitchen countertops.

ETA December 12, 2010: I can see that I'm failing miserably with updating this. I've added his last weigh-ins which do not include the month of October. I have no idea where October went. We can no longer weigh him at home, so we truck him up to the vet's office every so often. They love him there. He usually leaves with several treats in his tummy.

ETA August 24, 2010: Patton can no longer fit under the couch. He tries but just doesn't fit. Bentley finds this pretty funny and uses it to his advantage. He'll run after Patton, bite his leg, and then take off and hide under the couch. Patton can't reach him!

July 27th was the first time we measured his height but I know he's gotten taller. His favorite spot when we first got him was under the couch. He could crawl under there and roll over with no problems. Now he gets stuck when he tries to roll over!

Halloween 2011

Amelia's first Halloween is in the books.

Our little pumpkin enjoyed her first Halloween party at daycare.  They had a ton of activities - all of which were geared towards older kids but she had a blast watching everyone else in their costumes!

We met up with the Houdek's at the party.  Joshua chose to go as a shy dinosaur.  Here Amelia is trying to get him.  She loved his costume!

We also carved pumpkins with the Houdek's.  Of course, it was the coldest day so far this fall, but that didn't stop us.  Amelia was bundled up ready to help.

Patton had to help everyone!

Notice the orange on his nose.

Can't imagine how that happened....

Turns out, he loves the taste of pumpkin.

Amelia's hands were the inspiration for my pumpkin.

And Dave carved a ghost!

Visiting Great Grandma Pool

We finally made the trip to Hebron so Amelia could meet her Great Grandma Pool.

Amelia and Great Grandma had a blast together!  Great Grandma was so suprised by Amelia's strong grip!

On our way out of town, we took Amelia over to the park to see the world's biggest porch swing.  Amelia was fascinated by the leaves blowing in the wind.  We had to check out of the leaves.  She held on to it for the longest time.

Hanging out on the swing.

Stilts!

Oh, you don't have stilts?  You mean that's not a normal thing to have lying around?  Hmmmm.   Well, we do.  As a matter of fact, we actually have 2 pairs of stilts at home.  My grandpa made a set for Mike and me when we were younger.  I was thinking about them one day, so the last time we were in Grand Island, I made Dave try them out.  He did much better on them than I did as a child!  He attempted to walk up the back steps - I thought I was going to get hit with a pair of wayward stilts...

Grandparents

Amelia got to spend lots of time with her grandparents and great grandparents this weekend.  My mom had scheduled family photos and we were able to do them at my Grandma and Grandpa Schlueter's farm.

Photos weren't until late afternoon, so Amelia had plenty of time to watch football and chill beforehand.

Then we had time before photos to hang out with Great Grandma Schlueter.

After photos, we hung out and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Mike and Andrea celebrated their new home with some "champagne".

Allie explored buttons with Great Grandma Schlueter.

Amelia took flying lessons with Grandpa Boehle.

Allie showed off her 2 new top teeth!

Amelia and Grandpa Boehle got lots of loving time.

Grandma and Grandpa Boehle got lots of grandbaby time.

It was an awesome weekend and I can't wait to see the photos we got.  There were lots of fantastic places to take photos at the farm.
