June 2012

The month of June was a little rough for Amelia.  It started out ok with her birthday but kinda fell apart after that.

Her tubes fell out of her ears at the beginning of the month.  She had surgery to replace them but still ended up with the worst ear infection yet.  Typically with her ear infections, she'd act normal but would spike a fever.  This one was horrible.  She was miserable for several days.  She was lethargic, had high fevers and was just not happy.  They finally figured out the right medicine to get rid of the infection and we finally had our happy baby back!

She also had her check up with the doctor in Omaha for her belly button hernia.  Basically, nothing has changed with the hernia and she will eventually need to have surgery to repair it. After 3 ear surgeries, we were glad to be able to postpone it!

Here's a June recap in pictures....

This is how Amelia prefers to watch Sesame Street. Naked and standing as close as she can get to the TV.

She loves her pots and pans that Grandma and Grandpa Pool got her for her birthday!

She has already figured out the doggie door.  If she'd only teach Patton, we'd be in business.

She worked really hard on improving her balance and standing.

She loves to spend time with her daddy and

her doggie.

She's weird.

There's nothing funnier than running into Patton.

We were able to get pig tails in her hair for the first time!

Amelia also attended Jazz in June for the second time (we went last year when she was less than a month old)!  This time, Jessy and Twila joined us and we had a great time.

It wouldn't be Jazz in June without UNL Dairy Store ice cream!

The Cake

Did you think I forgot the cake pictures in the last post?  No way.  Amelia loves cake!

She was pretty tired by the time the cake came out but she still ate her fill of it.

Give me cake!

She wasn't sure why we were just letting her dig into the cake, so she started small.

She loves to poke at things so she started by peeling apart the eyes.

I think she realized pretty quickly that it was tasty!

Well, we have been working on sharing though I'm not sure this is what we had in mind.

Amelia's 1st Birthday

Amelia had an awesome first birthday.  I know she won't remember the party, but she is such a lucky girl.  Several of our family and friends came over to enjoy an afternoon of food, cake, and outdoor fun.

We went with a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme.  Quite fitting for our little eater.

I made a photo collage out of the pictures we had taken each month.  I love going back and looking at her photos.  I'm always amazed at how much she changed from month to month.

We had lots of yummy food (Dave's getting to be quite the cook these days).  I was in charge of baking.  Cupcakes for our guests and a round cake for Amelia (it was her birthday, after all).

Amelia's friends and family spoiled her.  Seriously, she received so many awesome gifts.  She had lots of gift-opening helpers which was great because she's still a novice at it.

I thought the best part of the day was getting to spend time outside.  We set up the pools and the sprinkler and the kiddos had a blast!

Birthday hugs and kisses from Allie.

Yes, she has to drink out of the pool.

Enjoying a little quiet time with Aunt Andrea.

Look at all of the people.  We are truly lucky to have such great family and friends!

Amelia was hamming it up for everyone.  Here she insisted on crawling into the pocket between two chairs.  Why she thought that looked like fun, I have no idea.

As you can imagine, it was quite the busy day.  She was so tired but luckily Uncle Kevin was there to provide a comfy place to nap.

I think her first party was a success.  Amelia had a great time and we had so much fun having everyone over.  It was so much fun to celebrate this milestone with everyone!

Finally

Be prepared for lots of posts and pictures.  I'm finally getting caught up!

Lots of Giggles

Amelia and her daddy like to do gymnastics (as Dave calls it).  As soon as he sets her on his stomach, she starts giggling!  It's so funny to watch and listen to!

Feeding Patton

Apparently feeding Patton is hilarious.  No worries though if you run out of snacks to give him. Just give him milk!
