11 Days

11 days to go. Had a little snafu yesterday but we think it's cleared up. If all goes well, we should have street signs by the end of the week and be that much closer to move in.

12 Days

We have tentatively scheduled our move-in for Saturday, November 21st! I say tentatively because we still have to get part of the railing inside installed and get the inspector out for his final approval. The railing should be finished either this Friday or Saturday. The inspector should be out either Saturday or Monday.

So, because I choose to think optimistically, I am starting the official Pool move-in countdown.

12 days and counting!

We'd appreciate all the help you can give on move-in day. I know some of you are storing items for us and I'd like to point out that this would be a great day to rid your house of our stuff. Feel free to bring it by and move a few boxes! We'll be providing lunch, dinner, and beer. What more can you ask for?

Weekend Update

Only 13 days to go!!!! Yep, the countdown has begun. We have one project left to finish. After it's done, the inspector will come out and hopefully give us the a-ok!

While trying to contain our excitement about being within two weeks of move-in, we did wrap up a few projects this weekend.

Dave and my dad built a proper set of stairs from the garage to the house.

My mom enjoyed the nice weather and finished painting our front deck.

Doesn't it look great?

I also got to spend some quality time outdoors. Our neighbor stopped by on Friday and used a disc he had borrowed to tidy up our lawn. There were a few areas he couldn't get to so I tried to clean up the remaining weeds. It was a battle.

Dave also snuck outside and installed our...

mailbox!!!! Hopefully we'll be on the post office's radar shortly. We also got our 911 sign last week.
My dad was busy working away on our railings. Doesn't it look much safer?

And finally, our cabinet builder came down and installed some of the kitchen cabinet doors.

It's really all starting to feel official now. Please send some good thoughts our way as we are really hoping that everything is perfect for the inspector and we can get our occupancy permit with no problems.

Awesome!

Have I ever told you how awesome my parents are? Well, they are.

They got home from Vegas yesterday. Instead of staying home and relaxing, they came up to Lincoln this afternoon. My mom said it was nice out and my deck needs painting.

Because they are at the house working, they were able to give my neighbor permission to disc our yard. Trust me the yard needs this. That wouldn't have happened if they weren't there.

Dave and I are so grateful that they have been able to help us. We've been able to build a bigger and better house due to their "cheap" labor. We will gladly be providing lodging during Husker baseball season for the rest of eternity!

Thank you Mom and Dad!!!!

Last Weekend's Update

Where did the week go??!! It's Friday and I can't figure out where the last 4 days went. I'm pretty proud that I got this post up before the next weekend occurred!

We picked up our doors in Grand Island last week. Luckily, Don let us use his trailer to pick up all 19 of them.

Don also helped unload all of the doors and modeled one for me.

While the guys unloaded the doors, I used the electrician's ladder and cleaned the upper windows. We've been trying to figure out how we were going to do this. Notice my super nice fanny pack.

Our electrician has also been busy...

Master bathroom...

Front porch...

Great room...

Kitchen/dining room...

Foyer...my favorite...

Four season room...

Our plumber also finished up...

We're moving right along!

Oh, did I mention we've scheduled a move date. Yep, mark your calendars. We are moving on the 21st of November. We'll see you then!

Weekend Update - Part 3

The end of last week got away from me. Work is picking up, house work is picking up...busy times. Anyway, here's part 3 of last week's weekend update. I'll work on this weekend shortly...

Yep, railings are up! We'll be working on the balusters shortly. Things are moving right along.
