26 Weeks

Well, we've reached 26 weeks. Things are going really well. The doctor says everything is as it should be. I'm feeling pretty good. Long hours at work haven't caught up with me yet (and hopefully they won't!). Dave's handling things around the house so I have no worries when I get home from work.



Speaking of Dave, this is how he (and Patton) handles things....

We start baby classes tonight. Should be interesting!

22 Weeks and Spud's 1st Photos

22 Weeks! We are officially more than halfway through this pregnancy and that much closer to meeting Spud.

Today was our big ultrasound. It was our first and possibly the only one if the pregnancy progresses as expected. Dave and I were pretty excited, although I think Dave was more excited than I was. I've been feeling the baby move for a couple of weeks now, so I get to interact with Spud every day. Dave, on the other hand, hasn't been able to feel Spud move yet (Spud moves mostly during the day while I'm at work) so he was pretty anxious to see him or her.

And here's Spud's first set of photos at 22 weeks. I'll try and explain what you are seeing in the photos though I had to have it all explained to me (and I can't guarantee I remember everything).

Spud was sleeping when we started the ultrasound but the tech was able to get him or her to wake up and move. That was quite the sight to watch. We also got to see Spud sucking. Crazy. Dave and I were both relived that there was no mention of a top hat or walking cane (Spaceballs reference anyone?).

Spud measured in at 1 pound, 2 ounces (though I have no idea how they determine that) and approximately 9 inches long. The tech also estimated that I was 22 weeks and 1 day so we are pretty much right on for the June 10th due date.

And, just in case you thought we were neglecting him, here's some recent Patton shots.

And, yes, that is how he sits. If he can sit in your lap he will. It doesn't matter if you are sitting on the floor, on the couch, or in bed, he has to be in your lap. I'm not sure why God programmed the biggest dogs to be lap dogs but I'll take it.

Patton and Friends

Dave and I babysat for Jenna and Will Friday night and Saturday. We had a great time and are so grateful that we live close enough to babysit.

We weren't sure how Patton would handle two little ones running around his house. We weren't concerned that he would be aggressive (because he never is) but we just weren't sure how he would react. Well, he did fabulous. He had no problems with them running around except he couldn't get his naps in because Will always wanted to play ball.

For breakfast Saturday morning, Dave served pancakes. Patton patiently waited for a bite and Will did oblige by dropping one bite on the floor.


After breakfast the kids wanted to watch Scooby-Doo. Patton joined them.

Will was enthralled by Patton's tail. Since Patton doesn't realize he has a tail, it was quite interesting to watch.

Jenna wasn't so sure about Patton when she first arrived. By the end of the weekend, they were pals. She wanted Patton to go home with her! Of course, I had to tell her no.

All in all, I think Patton did really well with the kids. I'm not sure he fully understood what was going on and why they were around all day, but he did great with them. He'll have to learn to nap with little ones in the house though!

19 Weeks and Growing

Time is sure moving fast here. I just hit the 19 week mark! My belly is expanding rapidly (at least I think so). Baby has begun kicking as well. Not frequently (or at least I don't notice) but when Spud decides to kick hard, it's hard to miss it.


Patton's also growing too. I made Dave lie down on the floor next to him one night to see who was longer. It's close.



He loves to sit on the couch (or hassock or my knee) like a human.

His other newest habit is looking out the windows. For some reason, he loves climbing on Dave's nightstand and staring out the windows. When he gets all 4 legs on the nightstand, I think it looks like an elephant standing on a stool in the center ring. Hilarious.

He's also discovered the snow. It's quite entertaining to watch him play in the snow.

Spud's ultrasound is right around the corner, February 1st. I'll be sure to post the pictures!

Squeaks

There's nothing Patton likes better than to lie around squeaking his tennis ball. We had to upgrade to the next size up as we were worried that the normal sized tennis balls would get swallowed.

Washington D.C., Part 5

Seriously, hurry up and get these posts done. I'm starting to forget we even were in DC!

One of the highlights of our trip was getting to go to the top of the Washington Monument. We scheduled it for the last day we were in town, but we should have done it first.

The views from the top were amazing. For a directionally challenged person like myself, seeing everything from above really helped me get oriented.

Dave was a little nervous about the trip to the top (he's not a fan of heights), so he kept the camera glued to his face so he could forget about the height.

They have a set number of visitors they let in the monument each day. Thankfully we had ordered our tickets online beforehand because they were sold out by 8:05 am that morning (they begin selling tickets at 8am). Crazy.

The coolest thing about the monument is something you don't get to see much of anymore. As you travel back down, the guides slow the elevator down and you get to see the inside of the monument. As they were building the monument, other localities would send stones to be included. Each stone has a story on it and they were amazing (what little we could see). I was told that they used to let you walk down the stairs to exit the monument. Then you could see all of the stones. They had to discontinue this because of security concerns. Bummer.

We also visited the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool. We were both disgusted by the Reflecting Pool. It was dried up and contained a lot of trash and other muck. It was really gross. I'm hoping it was because of the time of the year.

The Lincoln Memorial was impressive. It was crowded because of the rally but we were still able to get pretty close. I knew it was pretty large but it was actually huge!

Don't ask why that last picture is crooked. So many of picture turned out that way. I think one of Dave's legs is shorter than the other!

17 Weeks

My most recent doctor's appointment went very well. Baby's heartbeat is strong. Our ultrasound is scheduled for February 1st. We can't wait to actually see this little one!
